Hi im newish to wind turbines but its pretty windy all the time around here so im putting together a wind turbine bit by bit just to see if its viable.

I`ve got a chinese charge controller, the ones you see on ebay with volts and amp metre and fan at front and back of the unit. Im confused by the connections that goto the wind turbine on the back of the charge controller, there are 4 in total, 3 red and 1 black and i dont know why ??  i have a small solar panel and thought i would try connecting one wire to red and the other to the black but nothing happens unless i conect them both to any of the red terminals, then the metre reads 19 volts.. surly the black terminal is negative ?  the 4 terminals are marked wind turbine so why 3 red and one black? any help for this newbie wanting to learn would be great...
