A lot of you I know have little or none test gear other than a meter and some the occasional oscilloscope, I was therefor wondering how many of you actually have the access to such a thing as a spectrum analyser ? as i have noticed a few amateur radio construction article of yesteryear if any one is interested.

A decent Digital scope can provide this functionality. If you want to do field analysis then a front end wide band amp might be a requirement. Couple it with a signal generator (digital preferred) and this can provide markers. Hantek has some experimenter grade equipment that can be had relatively cheap.
