Ok i see now what you mean and you are right. It is easier this way to go as low as 50Hz. Attached is a 50MHz signal modulated by powering a mosfet with 100Hz pulses from mains. But what you describe might be even more simple as we don't need mains to do it.

Indeed, no need mains, that was just an approach to the problem, you can use a 50hz gated signal to drive kacer in resonance, using logic ICs, or others approaches that suits you.
My point with that past experiments was about 50hz modulation, and coils arrangements, and possibility that our actual guy use some similar techniques to drive a 50hz grinder.

Nick no it was none of them, it was a Russian guy his Tesla coil was on a 4-inch Dia sewage pipe and he had it vertical he was putting info on large cards of circuits he had two coils one 1/4 wave lighting a 100 w bulb it was in two video's have you still got the link ? it wasn't a self runner !

JEG 50 hertz Why bother with it??  your wasting your power doing so, better to use DC and convert it as necessary it's highly inefficient and wasteful on the tesla coil.

This is another story. We are just trying to find out about this Russian's guy technique, for powering his 50Hz motor. And as it seems, it can be happen in a very simple way.
