How do we know for sure that the above set up works, for real?  As it has not been confirmed.

Then assemble that instead of grenade and connect begining of windings to the ground. And have diode bridge with 1 uF cap bank attached some spark gap as dummy discharge from 1kV.
And try to tune Tesla coil to the point of reaching quick charging of output caps to high voltage over very short period of time. And see if you would be able to achieve that...? :)
