Since this is quite an old circuit (Circa. 1923) and requires a lot of tuning with the 6 x variable condensor capacitors, however I would replace some of the stages with something a bit more modern and efficient.
For example he could only get up to 500kHz (or 2uS timing of incoming waveform) , replace it with a suggested harmonic doubled at 1MHz to get higher output generated power rather than using 500 kHz. The 110V input spark gap is unnecessary I think, since he already has a much better spark gap on the secondary side of the transformer with much more higher voltage, which would create the radiant energy required from the spark than having one on the 110V ac side. I think he was doing a lot of experimenting and stumbled on a configuration that appeared to be working to suit his purpose, rather than know too much about the theory behind it.
Attached is an illustration on how I would replace his ac voltage input eliminating the need for an old fashioned variable condensor. Maximum output current drive into a primary winding of step up transformer, such as a microwave or flyback transformer, and current can be up to 9 Amps, or 120A peak - more than enough to disturb the spark gap energy and secondary radiation for the antennae side.
