Conico,
the circuit you show with the 4017  4081  4013I more or less built it up on a bread board,
It  should be  driven from the push pull and is all it does is devides a  360 rotation into 10
so it can be programed when to fire the  pulse into the Kacher winding,
whitch is a device that is driven from the 4013 device and is not shown!!
however you could just drive the 2 MOS-FETS direct and see what hapens, I havent tried that.

hi, the katcher needs some sort of fireing mechanisum like a spark plug spark gap discharge mechanisum
or fly back pulse to triger the katcher device. the circuit you show with the TL494 is free running (incompleat)
I have a PCB for that section but it's far too slow to drive the katcher but would be ideal for Don Smith device
it's maximum speed is about 300khz ;D ;D ;D.

I have a circuit that delivers a 3nsec pulse but not at 1.7mhz if one goes over the 500khz mark the 494 no longer works as it should
Conico says things befor he has tested them, so if some one says bad stuff i'm finding its better to say nothing at all

All the circuits have the nano circuits missing  so none of them will work it's as simple as thst. Maybe one Enjoykin did works  :o

Nick Yes i said what i said  as i have a 494 giving very narrow nano pulses but not at 1.7 mhz it will do 500khz ok but 1 mhz and it no longer works as it should

I prefer 1.8 mhz but Conico.s latest circuit just selects the a point in the 360 deg cycle to fire the Tesla coil but it needs a verry narrow pulse at 1.8mhz
or a bunch of them so they need to be fast there is one or 2 circuits that will work or look as if they will who knows

Amy way people are getting annoyed it;s best to just let them do what they will. i'm sick of getting kicked off  :'( :'(
