In Katcher between base and 1K potentiometer should be closed connection. To protect transistor put small resistor about 100- 400 ohms in series with 3K potentiometer or don't twist potentiometer to lower value below 100 ohms.

You should tune your Katcher with oscilloscope to get 5kV-6kV output amplitude with nice sharp unipolar impulses (mono-polar impulses).

Do the same as Ruslan did in video.

You should have 5kVpp-7kVpp amplitude at your Pulsar and lot of reactive power in circuit to trigger OU effect. Why ? Because OU effect has own absolute threshold on those levels. Also phasing coils is very important. Try winding coaxial from left to right and right to left. Also try coaxial with open and shorted ends and try "kick" HV impulse not on central conductor but on outer while central coductor put on ground potential or leave free in air.  Sweep your pulser from null to maximum and look on light bulbs and oscilloscope. Principle is working and was checked many people.

Make Ruslan coil on this way:

1. Obtain: oscilloscope 10....50MHz, 60m copper wire 2.5 mm² PVC isolation, 4 m copper wire 4....6 mm², 20 m copper wire 16....20 mm², PVC water pipe 50 mm dimater 1 m long, 2m (or more better) cooper rod 20...40 mm diameter.
2. Cut 2.5 mm² wire exactly at 37.5 m. Remain wire cut on 18.75m for bifilar inductor. Cut 16....20 mm² wire exactly at 18.75m and weld one end to copper rod sticked into ground. Bifilar and ground wire should be exacly 18.75m.
3. Make your Grenade like Ruslan has shown at picture.
4. 1st and 2nd layer wind from left to right (your position is reference).
5. on half on 2nd layer wind 3rd layer from right to left. 4th layer same as 3rd.
6. on half of 4th start winding 5th from right to left. Also do for 6th layer.
7. remain wire put through the plastic tube. It will be one end.
8. wind bifilar inductor over 2nd layer, opposite to 1st and 2nd. In our case from right to left.
9. Make a Katcher coils on free half of PVC pipe. Primary shoud have 3..5 turns 4....6 mm² wire with distance of 3 fingers between primary and secondary. Secondary should resonate about 3MHz...4MHZ without antenna and small bifilar choke between. Tune Katecher to get nice sharp unipolar impulses as Ruslan has shown in video. Secondary wire from 0,35mm....0.75mm - a lot of turns. Correct number depend from wire diameter.
10. Make antenna around inductor about 5..6 turns of 4....6 mm² wire. Distance from antena to inductor should be minimum 3 fingers (Ruslan's measurement) on both side.
11. Make small bifilar choke on ferrite rod 10...12 cm lenght, 10mm diameter. wind one half 5..6 turns from left to right , other from right to left.  Connect grounding and tune Katcher secondary lenght (from base of transistor), antenna (find best tap on 5 turns coil) and use small bifilar choke for fine tuning. You should get as on picture above, exactly at 2 MHz with maximum amplitude you may get. All tuning should be done with grounding.

Than sit and drink beer.  First part was finished.

Guys,  take care NOT to use a lab PS when tuning/testing your Kacher, use a battery or a simple 12/24V PS.
Last night one half of my double PS went out with a big bang while tuning my new kacher 

There is loads of RF going into your PS with the above result, the same warning i did read on the Russian forum last week or so.

Enjokin, your gift is welcomed and well appreciated! If you don't mind, I have some few questions so to be more compatible with.

1. In which direction you wind your Tesla coil compares to the first two grenade layers as a reference
2. In which direction you wind katcher's antenna compares to the first two grenade layers
3. Is a coupling capacitor needed between grenade and yoke windings? Because without coupling there, we have to count/add the length of the 28T yoke secondary to the length of the grenade as they are in series..

Itsu i already burned my 75Euro scope's probe with katcher, when an arc occurred between katcher's antenna and grenade! You should know that it is not the proper way for tuning katcher by feeding it through batteries. The frequency is absolute depend on katcher's voltage supply. I learned it the hard way. I was tuning my katcher a whole evening. And when I changed batteries to some fresh ones, the res. Frequency changed again... a lot!!
