Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

probably need more of a CSR to see current around diode...
Of course, a CSR is needed to observe the current flowing through a diode

won't there always be a + on the cathode side?
No, the essence of the DSRD Driver is to reverse the current flowing through the diode.

I blew up my CSRs :(  I found some 100W 0.1R resistors... but I fear I may even blow these :(

any idea for something more reliable?

100W is only like 9A at 12V

No, when 9A flows through a 0.1Ω resistor then 8.1W of heat is dissipated in it. (P=I2R)
...or only 81mW, when the current waveform flowing through this resistor has 1% duty cycle.

Alternatively, when 12V is applied across a 0.1Ω resistor then 1440W of heat is dissipated in it. (P=V2/R)
...or only 14.4W, when the voltage waveform appearing across this resistor has 1% duty cycle.
( a math trivia for you: What is the current flowing through the resistor above? )

P.S.
100W resistors are likely to be wirewound and hence inductive.
Inductive resistors are unacceptable as Current Sensing Resistors (CSRs)

If this is the truest Dally's schematic, then I see no way that this TTL NAND Gate can drive the Power BJT (KT926) directly into saturation.
If you see no intermediate transistors between the TTL chip and the Power BJT on the photos, then even more so.

On the attached photo, it can be seen that the KT926 transistor appears to be driven directly from pin 8/11 of the 74HCT00. From this I conclude that Dally's circuit was not in DSR operational mode in the video. Also note that the toroid TR1 is not on a heat sink.

Regards
Hoppy

It seems this way, but photos can be deceiving.

What are those elements behind the PCB circled in yellow?
Are those diodes that are soldered to the back of the PCB?
If he soldered diodes back there, then maybe he soldered some small intermediate transistors there, too ?

Where is the archive of Dally's photos (and videos), anyway?
