  I'm NOT talking about a spark gap, I'm talking about the quality of the spark when connecting the positive terminal of the circuit to the battery post. Or when rubbing that  circuit connector on the battery post.
  The sparkler type sparks, are the very long sparks, going is all different directions, which may indicate low voltage, high amps are working in the circuit. 
  I obtain my best result when those long sparkler type spark are noticed. They look just like a fireworks sparkler. Yellow, and over an inch long. Not the blue, hot, sparks.
  The bulb also can turn on and light or flash to different colors, like greenish, violet, etz... Anyway, just some odd observations, which when trying out the different caps, the effects that they can produce.

Hi NickZ,

that sounds familiar.
When in "higher output mode", i often see that much more current is being pulled / dissipated, and sometimes only in 1 transistor/MOSFET (unbalans).
That one then gets very hot, and will pop eventually.

It looks like only 1 transistor/MOSFET is working (oscillating), and doing all the work, or it could be that the one that is NOT oscillating is setting its base/gate wide open and pops for that reason.

  Yes, that is the same thing that I am seeing. When that happens both transistors or fets can be affected, and both should be replaced, even if they still test ok. They may not be, ok.
  I think that higher resonant mode effect is due to the circuit hitting another resonant point, and there can be several of those points, which can cause different effects.
  Hopefully we can obtain the results that GeoFusion has shown.

  Another way to limit current input is to use a wall adapter like a 12v, 1.5 amps one, or so. That is what I do at first, to test the response of a new circuit.
I've even lit a 100 watt bulb on only 12v 500mA, but dimly, using the wall adapter.
