Yes, good drivers are essential for mosfets and IGBT's.

I'm fairly sure that now I have reproduced the waveforms shown by Ruslan, that my build is very close to his. Ignore the schematic I posted earlier as this was just my circuit variation I used to get the URFA flashing light effect. However, various observations on Ruslan's videos, strongly suggest to me that he faked his self-running demonstrations. The latest device is I think powered from the PSU of his latest device sitting on the table adjacent to the device he is demonstrating. My feeling is that Ruslan has been strongly influenced by Akula and has failed to produce a self-runner based on Akula's schematics. Quite why he has produced so many videos and yet only hand scribbled schematics is rather strange but it maybe that he just likes the attention he attracts! My replication is now off the bench and resigned to the corner of my workshop and will remain there until I see something to convince me that Ruslan really has a self-runner as claimed.

   Your tests would be more interesting if they had something to do with THIS thread.  Exciter and Kacher circuits have already been widely documented, on their own threads.  So, please stay with the current topic... Akula/Ruslan replications, or you'll only be adding more distractions, here.

  Remember that no one, other than Ruslan, has been able to replicate the Akula device. Even the Russians have not been able to replicate the effect. 
Does that mean that there is no OU, or self running effect?   I don't think so...

  The only person that has even tried to really replicate the Ruslan/Akula device is Itsu.  My hats off to him... As he's really on it, and has all the proper gear needed.  Which not all of us have, or even want.

Wow you're so narrow minded.  Sorry but you bring out the worst in me.
IF ruslan simplified to just using the kacher to drive the grenade, then that simplifies things to just the output grenade circuit, and a driver for it.  A square wave works best; but was trying to get over the 3V limit of the function generator; so found a simple solution to get an oscillator that could drive it with more than 3V... might as well have been a mazilli, 555 timer, etc....


it's all exactly on topic with this thread.
especially to go back to day 1 that this is about Dally; Dally had a short reverse wound section on his coil; if that itself is just what's required, then it needs to be explored from lots of directions to see what makes it tick.

... Yes it needs more current, but this current comes from ground. What we have to do is to raise voltage as much as it needs to reach the time goal. For example if our load i.e 200W needs 12V to operate, perhaps it would be needed to raise voltage over some thousand volts so to have a decent charging time. At least this is what Tesla proposed at this famous interview about HF alternating currents. Raise the voltage, and use of electrostatic devices i.e capacitors! The same conclusion i had with Don Smith experiments. Raise pressure as much as it needs to reach the needed charging times. Current is expensive but voltage is cheap.

Hi Jeg. The odd thing is that in Ruslan's recent device configuration where he used only
the kacher driver, the voltage across his output capacitor was only about 1000V. I can get my
1 uF cap to charge to 1000V if I drive my kacher driver at 24VDC. His tesla coil output voltage
is probably approximately in the range of maybe 2kV to say 8kV max. The voltage on the tesla coil drops
the more it is loaded down. If Ruslan's latest device was not just a ruse to throw people off track  ,
then it seems there is something else going on that causes extra energy to get pulled in.
1000V across a 1uF cap is only 0.5J of energy storage. It may be that making some changes to the kacher
driver/tesla coil could have some real impact here however. I don't know. I continue to investigate.
