The PSU usually is as the battery source when disconnected from mains from simple reason - the circuits like that generate lots of noise and can feed bak high frequency as the noise back to the mains which everyone would like to avoid. Also, why you wouldn't try make that circuit and verify effects seen in vids instead? Avoiding to get hands dirty?

The induction heater with PLL for Tesla coil driver and stepped up voltage input for the Tesla coil. These was designed by Oleg and shared there a while ago but wasn't really picked up as one set by someone in forum.

you can see C5 having a value of 330, but i would like to know if this should be pF or nF or even 33nF

Below you see a snipped of this diagram with C5.
I guess it should be 330pF or better 33nF else the time constant / frequency with the 5K pot would be very low for 330nF.
33nF would be in the 6 - 33Khz range, which this circuit should work on.
Any suggestions?

I am reposting this piece of info. that I posted many months ago here on the thread....

C5 & R8 constitute an *all pass filter*.  I have built & used this same configuration with the 4046CD.

As stated on the attached diagram: Adjust R8 to *lag* voltage signal from output signal @ pin#4 to match (approx.) propagation delay generated by LM393/inverter combo.  This is probably less than a few hundered of ns.  ( I used the MAX942CPA and it's prop. delay = 80ns: FYI there are *much* faster comparators available)
