If one uses a true center tap, then winding direction must be the same start to finish.  If you wind one primary in one direction and the other primary in the opposite direction, you cannot connect together the two coils where they meet.  This would be a bucking coil configuration that simply will not work with a push-pull driver.  All it will do is take turns pushing the magnetic core into saturation since the flux direction will always be the same instead of oscillating back-n-forth.

That's correct, unless you have coils in center going to opposite polarities.
In the photo attached above it it seemed they just go to center tap and this is why I mentioned cw+ccw widings.

Hi Hoppy,

ok,  did that (separate 24V from a PS to the TL494 which has a 15V regulator), but the problem remains.
The drains are on 24V from a battery,  the MOSFET drivers on a 12V battery, all grounds connected.

Hmmm, not sure what you mean, even though my setup looks ok, i still have the problems with the gates triggered by something else then their gates (looks like they are triggered by the other MOSFET shutoff pulse).

So the output signals from the drivers are fine, but the MOSFETs are false triggering.  The only way this can happen is if the Source leads on the MOSFETs are being pulled negative.

You also indicated when you replaced the yoke with resistors, everything worked just fine; signals look good.

If this is all true, then the problem must be just what I mentioned a ways back in this thread--the kickback from the primary coils is driving through the positive rail; all the way to ground via the power source and pulling the MOSFET Source negative.  I would suspect the problem compounds itself since turning the MOSFET on at the incorrect time, makes matters worse.

Is your 15V regulator getting very warm in comparison to when you are running just on resistive loads without the primary windings connected?

yes that is what it looks like, but as i tried the Oleg green box snubber setup (similar as yours), it did not change that problem.
