Experimentation with what? How did Kapanadze know that he has to make one component himself and how to make it?

Experimentation or build guidance based on info received from someone more knowledgeable than him on the one 'special' component that had to be hand made. As others have suggested, its unlikely that Kapanadze worked alone.

   All that Tesla needed were coils, caps, and a spark gap to produce the mentioned results. And of course, a power source.
He already had free energy from water flow, through his dynamos or generators. He was not looking for it elsewhere at the time. Nor needed to.  That came later, with the invention of the electric car, which used several tubes in it's workings.
   We don't know about all that Tesla may have came up with, as all his notes, and everything else was taken and confiscated, after his death in 1943.

If you read through all of the links posted earlier by Void, there is a reference to neo magnets and copper sheets, so its possible that its not just a straight forward high voltage capacitor. At the moment I'm seeing a glimpse of transmuted energy outside the box.
