Please explain why you think that the Joule Thief circuit you posted could have a COP 2.1. Do you have any build data to support this suggestion?

Nick, Void and others keep rattling on about COP  ;D we all know what it means but as it's not listed on Google or the Oxford dictionary or on line, what are the  words is is abbreviating ?  ??? ???
Also look at circuit again it's not closed loop but he has missed out 0v battery, your brain is amusing the earth connection is battery contact  connection and if Nelsons device isn't a exciting jewel thief what is it ?  :o :o ??? ???

   It has been commented that Nelson's device is just a joule thief, or an Exciter.
   In his own words, Nelson has mentioned that it is not just an exciter or joule thief.

   Joule thiefs, do not self run. Nor do normal Exciter circuits. And that is why Nelson's device is neither of the mentioned oscillator circuits.

  The name Joule Thief was to note that the simple circuit could take a dead 1.5v battery down to 0.5v, or even less. While been able to light a 3v led, off of a single dead 1.5v battery.
However, not every oscillator circuit is a joule thief, nor exciter, and much less will self run.

   If you want to call it a joule thief, or exciter, that's up to you. But, it would not be correct.
   I think that the main difference is that his circuits will self run, and do so by a system that no one else has achieved, and is still partially secret, especially his last shown self runner.

The circuit that Nelson posted will not self-run. Build it and find out for yourself.
