I believe you Tk but i have never seen one and played with a bunch of them.I probably have a hand full of those little compass in my barn somewhere . I know you can magnetize it with electromagneic pulses up down left right top bottom but i never seen it done with a plain magnet on tiny flat needles  but  personally have just reversed poles with a magnet/compass. It is odd .

During My long career as installer every dish had a compass and a bubble level and i set at least 50,000 dishes myself and threw away a dumpster of those disposable devices . I wish i save all of them now so i could blast them -:)-

I too will not mess my three expensive  compass up . . one is an old tritium military one my dad gave me and the other two  are $350.00 visual tandem inclinometers..

As far as water i drink a lot because i own my own water supply wells . one is a naturally pressurized artesian well   600 feet deep and has abundant calcium and is below any county water supplies  and the other is 300 feet deep crystal clear pure jet pump water well. No chemicals here. If you live in the  middle of nowhere i recommend you get your own water supply well.
