Hi Mark

Yes, a high speed optoisolator would work, also any of a number of FET driver chips or discrete transistor buffers. This was an elementary circuit meant to demonstrate a means for the average experimenter without expensive test equipment to verify if  heading in the right direction. Advanced testing could come later when positive results as outlined on the drawing are obtained.

Very interesting paper, Smudge. Thank you for sharing it. 
It leaves me with questions about the unstated or overlooked role of increased precession energy (and its harvest) in a number of devices where an external magnetic field is introduced. If I understand correctly, your paper looks at accessing the increased precession energy within a permanent magnet arising from the introduction of an external magnetic field.  A question arises for me:  Could this same increase of energy from the quantum domain (increased precession energy) be fostered in say, a piece of iron or a coil of iron wire (whose atoms might be precessing on their axes in response to earth's magnetic field), through the introduction of an external magnetic field?
