lancaIV, Thanks for the debt numbers. These numbers where already high when in 2001 the euro was introduced. We live in a debt system. So, it's no surprice that the debt 'rise from the pan', as we say in Dutch.
Back to, "make America great again" and the irony of that phrase after all that happened in the center of power. Who is going to close the gap, Biden? The gap is nation wide and run through families. I want to hear americans on this forum who give their answer to this huge problem. I think that it takes some time that 'the police of the world' needs first to put things in order in their own country, and fast.

Democracy can't work without FACTS.

A democracy must be well informed.

Can I know if a change in some law or some new law
is an improvement, if I don't know the facts ?

Greed and corruption eventually transformed / distorted / eliminated this requirement and U.S. news media became for  profit / ratings  motivated.

Cambridge analytica methods / A.I. / Face Book data  / 1,000 data point on average,
on each American, makes it possible to manipulate people's emotions to a frightening degree.

We (U.S.) and much of the world are under attack by a divide and conquer strategy.
Conflict and drama breed views.  The corporate motivation is competition for more money
and power.

Most people vote based upon how they feel not upon what is  reasoned.

Some are more susceptible than others, but all of us are much more susceptible than
we know or would like to believe.

At some point that methodology may be used to turn nation against nation.

The monopolization of nearly all information and entertainment media in the U.S.
makes this all, even more possible.

Racial and economic inequality in our justice system.  In most instances, the rich can do
hotel quality time in our jails and prison systems.

We depend upon our police to do our dirty work, while criminalizing drug addiction and ignoring mental illness.  Too many people think this is the cheap and easy way out.

We allow POWERFUL corporate interests to directly influence / dominate our politics

Many people feel a meaninglessness to their lives.  Perhaps this is because they aren't trying to do something meaningful ?  It not for me to say what is meaningful for other than my self, but
we all have eyes to see with.

Are there answers to these dilemmas ?  Only ethical and spiritual ones, I think.  I don't believe our species has to be "perfect" to survive, but only do our honest best.
