Every year there are more mutations, more resistance to vaccines and antibiotics. Life evolves to survive and diseases are evolving faster than we are thus eventually we will lose. The Corona virus is simply a sign of things to come.

Every year more weeds become immune to herbicides, more insects immune to insecticides and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the direction were headed.

Not a big deal it's called natural selection and evolution.

Animals are now testing positive for covid19...think on that for a while.

On FE and the future.

I suspect after the Corona virus and possible mutations have ravaged the planet global warming may also come into play. A catastrophic convergence of events which could wake up mankind to the reality of our existence.

We are not gods nor are we invincible, in fact we have simply been lucky to date. Our overpopulation, overconsumption,   fragile economy and centralized power structures were unsustainable and bound to fail... now they are

It is only after all the false beliefs have been stripped away that mankind could be ready to accept FE technology and change in my opinion.

To some points clearly yes,to others 50/50 and to some : no !
At first from national media orientation today we have more contienental up to global view and news,so the transmitted numbers have a higher numeric value x10  or x 100 snd more and the news and actualizations comes faster,also by international network cooperation and sometimes not info value lectorated/approved/secured !

Between countries there is often also life behaviour difference by philosophy and how the individual governments treat accidents/incidents !

That the climate change will have great natural impact is clear :Stronger wind,less rain in some climate regions and when then it rains floods,to much in a short time
Land erosion,the upper humus part when dry the earth decreased by wind blow or strong rain streams

with higher vaporation from water and lower current  the quality from lakes,rivers will become worser;
flora their roots will need to reach groundwater or need artificial watering, stress-factor
Less agricultural gain let the rural population migrate to their nearer cities for work and survive,slums

Clearly less rain means also less potable water reservoir
In the northafrican Rif mountains,up to 4000 metres high there is anymore in sommer ice and in winter snow to find and the rivers becomes dry,the ground water decreased in high several metres,how long palmes will survive ( oasis,beside a special actual palm illness) is for the habitants an existential question

Water from deeper reservoirs are often more salty,nitrite/nitrates another problem,with these conditions all together let water desalination and hygenic treament costs increase,specially for the high water volume per sqm farming sector

the insects population will grow stronger - minimum 1 month higher mild temperature season- per annum
locusts prague,tick,moscito,fly/bow tie

We do not know how trees will react to warmer average night temperature,the known flower and fruit grow
seasons will change by temporal displacement of known annuary cycles,hoping that not freeze/frost will destroy the tribes/blossoms and there will be enough insects for pollination whose participate this temporal change and which which will not become killed/sterilized by chemical insectizids

with newer house construction during the last decades air refreshing and humdity condition became worser : fungi grow and health issues

Vacation/journey by ship and planes to exotic countries where for industrial countries habitants their health infections can become dangerous,the population there probably immune !
The (hot) water quality in these regions and resorts,f.e. legionelles risk !         
Global human traffic
  se.x tourism ! The U.N- peace soldier troups,the international commerce ! illegal migration movement

The alimentation of us,which often is contaminated with anti-biotics or toxins !

But it is all known and who is interested to get more detailed information,shall begin with the seversl UN organisations their info sites !

It all comes full circle...

How the times change and not long ago I had people telling me I could find a better paying job elsewhere and why settle for less. However what they didn't factor in is that my job is an essential service unlike many others. Come rain or shine, boom or bust the Power Engineer's who operate all the industrial/commercial process plants and power generation facilities don't have the option of not doing our job. If we stop doing our job a majority of mankind is thrown back to the stone ages overnight.

It begs the question as to what is really important and deemed essential?. Food, water, shelter, natural gas for power and heating, gas and diesel for transportation and if these fail not only the economy but civilization as we know it breaks down. You see the people at the top of the food chain are not business people or politicians but Engineer's. They transform and manage "ENERGY" and without it food, water, power, heating/cooling and transportation all come to a screeching halt... food for thought.

This pandemic is a good example of how fragile centralized systems are and why decentralized systems must be the future. It is simply a matter of time before something happens and when it does all these integrated highly dependent systems will fall like domino's one after another. As a Power Engineer, a specialist in energy systems I can tell you as a fact it's not a matter of if it is going to happen but when.

As I said, it begs the question as to what is really important and what is not so much.
