Brad, in topic, we seem to be from one to the other, it started as standard transformer theory and then very quickly went to odd shapes and configurations...

In a standard Transformer, 99% or a bit more, of the Magnetic Flux is contained inside the Core, Toroidal or not.

Some flux will leak...

An Electric Field surrounds the Core but only when B is changing inside the Core.

All transformer induction is via induced E field.

Yes. If you were to imagine looking at a cross section of the energized toroid core, a plot of the intensity of the E field from the center to some point on the outside would look something like /\ where the peak intensity is just on the outside of the core where the windings are. The right slope is more gradual than the left. I believe there is a pic of the field here.
