Chet:

I didn't do any follow-up at all on this.  I don't follow the electric car industry.  I was just taking issue with the way that junk web site pitched the concept.

Kudos to Orbut 3000 on posting the link.  I read a bit and that looks legit.

So my point about the Aetherforce.com web site being pure junk is confirmed as far as I am concerned.  Whatever happened to due diligence?

Sexy slick video... I bet you he got some fringe benefits from some of the models.

I see no problem with it as 200-300 hp wheel motors are easily available and in fact I saw a 800 hp Austin mini advertised. So 920 hp is definitely not an issue in any way and all automakers base there hp claims on peak horsepower so this is by no means extraordinary. As for Energy storage, if they use a capacitor bank which is charged by the salt water battery setup then again 920 hp is not an issue... how long it can generate 920 hp is the issue. It should also be noted many of these new motors are running at over 600v so very large conductors as big as your arm are not needed. Power = Volts x amps....do the math.

I find it odd that anyone would be critical of this because it is exactly the same advertising hokus pokus every automaker on the planet uses. However I believe some people are just biased in their views concerning electric cars.

So are you saying that Burt Munro's 1920 Indian had 920 hp then?  He was able to go 205.67 mph using under 1,000 cc's. (1967)

I am just saying this is a lot (if it is true ) of unusable hp for a car like that.  To draw that much power, the wires to the motor would have to be as thick as your arm.

Bill

naturally 900hp would get the vehicle to those speeds much much sooner. ;)

M buddies shop built a porsche with 1500hp, 1300hp at the wheels.  Hasnt been to the track yet.

1.  This type of salt-water battery really does have the capability to output 920 HP.

2.  The battery can't output 920 HP but the car has a big capacitor bank to support short bursts of acceleration and it's the cap bank that can output 920 HP for a short period of time,

Maybe we should forget about this daft car that looks as though it was half inched from the set of Star Trek and concentrate on the battery.

To this end, I have just started a new thread here:

Hopefully, see you there.
