That's it...  that kid gets no tomatoes from my garden !!

So the water flow from your garden hose did not change when the kid captured some of that water in his bucket. !But! the water received by the tomato's did.
So how can you make sure your tomato's receive the same amount of water as your garden hose is putting out,while still allowing the kid to catch some in his bucket and take it home?.

Dump the kids water on the tomatoes and let him take home an empty bucket.  Of course, you will be expending additional energy doing this...it would not be as efficient as just letting the hose water flow onto the tomatoes in the first place.  Not all of the water will empty from the bucket as its sides will be wet so, there will be additional loses.

PS  One way to do this is to have the kid drink all of the water...then go home...and come back later and pee on the tomatoes.  That is the only way to satisfy your scenario.

Enough said, I give this a whopping 85% chance of being real, after all a man can only take so much embarrassment.

Well you could just give the kid one of the tomato plants,and he could water it with the water from the bucket.
Or water your plants while it's raining,and let nature make up for the losses.
Of course,if it was raining,you wouldnt be watering your plants with the garden hose.
