Ambient heat transforming devices (AHTDs) promise cheap abundance. On the global scale, imagine a thriving civilization rich with many cultural charms. On the local scale, imagine a very comfortable, supportive, and attractive home. Many attractive spin off applications will be developed. AHTDs will be built into many things. People will no longer have to work hard to obtain energy. People will stop worrying about energy. Exponentially growing energy use will not necessarily wreck and exhaust the planet.  We may still be short of Eden with large project mistakes and lots of people being hard on plants and animals but this is an improvement. What are we going to do with robotic birds? Private Earth burrowing machines? Private submarines? Cheap liquid oxygen? Lots of obsolescence? Smart clothes that heat or cool while remaining smooth and comfortable with commuhication devices in the collar? Write once certified date and location documenting chips?
