Der Empfänger bestand in der Anfangszeit aus einem sogenannten Kohärer (auch Fritter genannt), einem heute nicht mehr gebräuchlichen Bauelement, das in Abhängigkeit von hochfrequenten Schwingungen seinen elektrischen Widerstand ändert. Im ersten Jahrzehnt des 20. Jahrhundert wurde der Fritter nach und nach durch Möglichkeiten zum Hörempfang von Telegrafiesignalen ersetzt.[7]
