There are sometimes 3rd and 4th generation welfare people in the U.S.. Its how it is for them and its all they have know out side of school and a few brief periods of employment.  Its not a healthy thing in some cases I think.  Although its not a child's fault.  Its like feeding starving children in some desolate part of the world.  The children will simply grow up to give birth to more children who would starve unless some one out side gives them food.  Or, unless they can be removed to a place where they can learn to grow their own food.   But in the mean time, does one let those children starve or  become so malnourished that they are literally brain damaged for life or die ?

But also it is a wrong and grossly misleading to characterize the vast majority of welfare recipients as being in that kind of generational cycle.

I would beg to differ and the U.S. like Canada has created a welfare state for big business giving billions of dollars to already wealthy corporations to create a few hundred permanent jobs while giving management and shareholders a bonus. That's not capitalism nor is it socialism but more like the communist oligarchy we see in Russia.

Yes, it's my understanding that U.S. welfare to corporations (subsidies, tax breaks) far exceeds that which is extended in the public welfare system.   The previous statement seem easily plausible to me give the 80 to 20 wealth distribution between rich and the rest of us in the U.S..

I could go on and on, but basically I find no real disagreement with your perspectives / statements, that would be any thing other than splitting hairs.

As endconsumer : +Value added tax ,what does not exist in the U.S.!

The difference : social financial riscs of individuals is spreaded over the total community !

             Liberal does not mean Democratic party member.
For me the Democratic party has always been just the lesser of two evils.
            example.. Democratic party has not been led by a series of climate change deniers.
            example.. virtually all the major and violent U.S. domestic terrists / mass shooters have been the extreme right of republican.

I don't mean by any means, to imply that all republicans are fools.   
But it is a different kind of mind set than my own, to consider a Trump as the lesser of two evels / superior to Hillary Clinton.

Also, I feel that the democratic party has lost its way / is out of touch with reality, just as much so as the republicn party
