It looks legit but it also sounds to good to be true. This is one is going to make me get back in the game.

OK, thanks..

Sorry I don't see that cable you say is there at 4:02 hartiberlin..

And this video shows him picking it up and walking around at 15:45..  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhRPYG7HeSw

I wish I could find someone who built one that didn't work, so I could stop wondering..

Hi Rebar,

That last video is very convincing.  Especially when he picks it up and walks around with it running.  Except if you know anything about video editing you know how easy it is to fake something like this.  There are tools for video editing that let you select an object in a video like a wire and use the tool to make it look just like the background it is in front of.  In other words make the object disappear.  What you also have to know is that the person making the video can set it up with YouTube so that they get paid a small amount for each time someone watches their video.  Multiply that small amount times the large number of people watching the video and the maker can get a fair amount of money from people watching a fake video.

From the technical side of the demo there is the problem of frequency.  AC motors operate or rotate at a speed determined by the frequency of the AC power coming to them.  So what ever the speed he gets the alternator spinning at will determine the frequency of the power going to the motor and so the motor speed will be determined by how fast he got the alternator turning.  I find it very hard to believe that he is able to consistently spin that alternator using a string to get it to spin at just the right speed so that the frequency comes out to be exactly 60 Hz.

Respectfully,
Carroll

Two points.
1. the auto radiator fan motors have 2 ceramic magnets in them.
2. My electric bike motor has neos all around the outside stator.

My thinking is that the magnets provide part of the power and thus saving the loss of powering two coils. My guess might be 30-40% but not 50%.

Any thoughts on what those magnets really do?
