Hi-
You all got to seal the electrolytes between the plates to build the classic "series cell" just as Bob Boyce has shown for years now. Otherwise there will be WAY too much voltage leakage between the plates and you will not have even distibution.
Don't waste your time building a cell without sealing them. Only the gas should be what is connected between them all. I have used round orings between plates which have worked out real well for me if you don't feel like cutting square ones. You'll be looking for between 1.5 volts and 2.2 volts in each cell.
You can build these units up to 70 plates plus even. The advantage is that with the lower amps you will not create too much heat which always will give you trouble when you have 'Amperage Runaway' which is not fun. Build the proper series cells.
