yeah i think the bird is better because you don't need a heat source really, just natural environment temperature indifference between the head and bottom. also the things i said about liquid vapor and ceiling hight etc should make it self sustaining.

Well,
that drinking bird is only a heat engine
with a very low efficiency.
It uses the heat difference between the
evaporated container ( bird?s head) and
the bottom to function.
So if you have maybe a temperature difference of just 5 degrees
Celsius, if you put this into the Carnot equatation
you see, that you have a low efficiency.

But anyway, built in a bigger size you can extract from each
"rocking stroke movement"
about the energy
liquid-mass x earthaccelleration x height difference of liquid =
m x g x h.

This is done best by using small diameter tubes, so most of the liquid
is transfered into the upper container, so  the transfered liquid mass
is maximized.

Now this is the energy gain per
"rocking stroke movement".
If you want to know the power you can get you have to have as many
of these events per minute as you can to maximize your
power output.

Using maybe a 1 Meter high bird will only give you roughly about 1 Watts
of contineous output power I would guess,
but maybe you can move heavier masses upwards by using a hydraulic pump
with this method or put a lead weight into the pipe, so the liquid
also moves the lead weight up....
Never give up.
A constant 1 Watts output 24/7 with only using a bit of water each day
would be great to charge up accumulators and then you could extract more power
for a few hours, if you need the power then...
