Yes, I too hope that the problems -- in this case it seems the capability of erasing East LA of the map if someone taps your bumper -- are worked out.

Like many I am craving a major, or at least substantial breakthrough on our way to freedom from big oil.

I think the true advantage of these caps over batteries in the currente technological paradigm is the 5 minute to full charge time. That would mean the end of the last excuse for not switching to electric cars.

Anyway, if any of the free energy technologies that are currently in development gets succesfully to market (Steorn, Bedini, MPI, etc.), then the fast charge of the ultracaps wont be a true advantage as every car can have a bank of Li Ion batts being permanently or on demand charge by a Free energy generator, thus eliminating the need for stoping for charge.

Let's dream.
