G'day all,

I have a filing cabinet full of patented magnet motors none of which work, including the much heralded Howard Johnson motor that no-one could get to work either.

But then, one of these days someone might invent one. It has been a long road between drinks though. :-)

Have you tried to replicate the Wankel motor?

hansvonlieven

No, and I am not about to either.

Let someone else SHOW that it works.

Stop cluttering the thread with your nonsense about the non-nonsense of the patent office

What magnetists? The Patent Office has awarded it a patent, who are we to argue? Patent Office doesn't just award patents for ideas but issues patents for working devices.
You mean to tell me that the Patent Office of the United States isn't non-nonsense? You gotta be kidding me?

On the other hand, the author must demonstrate a working model otherwise the patent should be overturned. I don't think the author can do anything with his patent (license it, sell it etc.) if he cannot demonstrate a working device. It would be just a useless piece of paper. I wonder if there's a procedure, initiated by concerned parties, which will invalidate the patent unless a woking demo is shown.

This is not true.

The US patent office has a poor reputation. A patent only means a little when the European grant comes through; even then, it only means something when it has been taken to court, and has won.

The only people who consistently make money out of patents ar ethe patent agents and the patent offices. Find out how many patents have even paid for their set up costs.
