i know alternator is the worst to use to make electricity but it is a challange that i need undestand y not!

i know that in order for the alter. to create elec. it needs the rotor exited, so in return it is wasting energy, i totaly understand. but i need to try!

all i need now is to find a MEChanical switch to exiet the rotor at certain wind speed, it depends on the size of the mill.

so is there outhere a switch on and off to turn a simple toggel using wind pressure or any other ideas??  i do not want to use a electronics to do the switch just simpl mechanics. thanks

here is my though.  a fan that lifts or presses when wind increases or decresse..

thanks

G'day,

The solution that comes readily to mind is something along the lines of an old fashioned centrifugal governor as used on steam engines. This allows you to set your device in such a fashion to engage your switch only if the speed exceeds a certain parameter.

Read up on it here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrifugal_governor

hey guys, thanks for the info. at this time i am taking both of your ideas kinda..

i am going to use the turbine shaft to spin the balls, that was easy..lol..  after the balls start spining and calibrated for the wanted RPM using springs or tensien of some sorts, so after that i get to the hard part witch is the switch..

all i know is to have it switch at the top of the spinn and turn off at the bottom.

so i have almost figured a way using a normal house gradual switch light fixeture that pulls with the center that connectes the Balls the only issue it the cetre is flipping spinning while it is pull a fixed handle so in bettween i need a bearing or in my case i am going to use a simple Fishing reel  i am not sure how long it is going to last put i will fill you in soon..

you may not understand all my jubrich but that is my story.

here is a rendering i put together...please feel free to pick it a part..

thanks

for the info.

here is the other idea, but i do not want to break my own rule with the use of electrocnics.

any way just an idea.
