Energy from a Tornado?

Interesting idea for using an artificially created tornado to sustainably extract energy.  I wonder if this could be built on a smaller, safer level for powering a home vs a city.  Firing a 200 mega-watt tornado might be a problem for the local climate.  On the other hand it could be a way to prevent tornados from destroying a town by reversing the energy flow and slowing the system down.  Sure would be fun to play with out in the prairie, eh?

I'm curious if this idea could be integrated with solar energy systems and heat collection.  Say, pointing a bunch of mirrors like giant magnifying glasses at a central point to create a super hot energy node.  Hmmm....
