good to hear you are using proxies if you are concerned about such things. my point of view is that if you are concerned about death for posting something, then don't post it. if you are living somewhere where such things are threatened, move.
if someone wants to track you online and has the resources to do it, sooner or later they will. you can obfuscate, spoof and cover your tracks, but that's about it. grift a wi-fi connection and couple that with a proxy. of course your monitor cable is not shielded, so anyone can sit in a van outside your house and pick up those signals and see exactly what is on your monitor...
anyone coming into my place telling me what i can or can't say, backed with a threat of death is gonna get rifle butted across the face. that's all the security i need.

i think heairbear was poking fun at shruggedatlas. shruggedatlas, as usual, was being useless...

i hope so he seemed very open minded and like minded in a different thread. I'm a security specialist and ex hacker so i know how to cover my tracks. this was more for the owner of the site to be honest to try and gain more efficient security. if the server doesn't save logs then it can be tracked by anyone on a site like this.

Personally i don't fear harm but there are a lot of people that do and if they knew they were more secure it just may help tidy things up by getting rid of all the "i fear to post" threads etc.

in my opinion, the 'i fear to post' threads are someone talking smack. their mouth wrote a check that their data/results can't cash. so they fall back on the 'helpl help! i'm being repressed! come see the violence inherent in the system!" i don't buy it. now don't get me wrong, history shows us a long list of scientists that were ostracized by their peers, and their theories were later vindicated. for example, the theory of the law of conservation of energy (julius r. mayer) was rejected with contempt by the leading physics journals of the time, now everyone is pushing it. so, being ridiculed, treated with contempt, rejection, that's all par for the course in science. but in looking at that list, i don't see any that were snuffed out.

i still am not quite sure about your concern about an IP addy. they are an intrinsic part of the internet, how would you route a packet to a specific computer without an IP? yes, you can have the webserver not 'log' IP's, but it still needs to know what machine is connected to it and requesting information or it has nowhere to route the datapacket. maybe i misunderstood, could you clarifiy?

yeah but if it's not logged that means it would need to be someone watching the packets live and intercepting them, which is technically against the law in most countries but yeah as i said anyway...its not "my" concern. more of a suggestion for the forum. but seeing as not many poeple actually replied i agree with your conclusion the people saying they are worried are basically talking sh** lol

I thought my reply was open minded. Your words of advice are well taken but it's the majority of the trolls here on this forum that won't even understand what you are trying to say. If your ideas are not new and crazy enough for people to poke at, they will not reply. I have read alot of this forum and I can honestly say there is no reason for a security measure or two needed for a forum troll. Besides, what is security? Security is a feeling you get when you feel that you and your belongings are safe from harm. But, that's all it is.... a feeling.
