The reason this won't enhance things (well...maybe a little) is due to impedance
matching. Use more current, and the voltage will go down creating
E*I = audio power x. Use less current, and the voltage will go up creating
E*I = audio power x . The antenna/ground impedance remains fairly constant.

Obviously a crystal radio is running flat out to create listenable energy from a radio
wave and things are heavely loaded.
