Just my opinion....

"several years between charging" should read 'several years between changing'

And guess what??  The changing is done to the batteries and they probably cost as much as the car   

Sounds like an intentional accidental typo to me.

   Prius costs $9000 for a battery set. Good for a year or so.
That from an owner here. He was really hot when the news
was handed to him.
