..once again the gov NEEDS us, but we dont need them, look at nature, it gets on with life just fine until  some kind of gov/human gets any where near it.

Being someone who is a "Liberal/Progressive Blogger" and pretty well experienced and knowledgeable about the present political situations in the US.. I can say that all this present worry about new federal gun controls is largely unjustified.

That is because enough Liberal/Progressives are now worried about this country turning fascist, having a totalitarian corporatist oligarchy, and losing our Liberties from the constant bogus drum-beat of "homeland security" (a term i despise because it was coined by hitler in 1933). We mostly understand now that having guns is better than not having them; it gives the powers-that-be pause. I know libs who were 6 years ago strict gun control supporters changing their tune and now going out and buying guns of their own. All because of the fears of the government going fascist, rounding us up, and sending us to the closest FEMA "summer camp"  

The pressure for gun control from the Left is lower than i can ever remember it being. There is really no way such laws could get through Congress; which should stay that way without significant change for the next 3-4 years if not longer.

Obama cannot pass laws himself. And the NRA is there; very strong and getting stronger.

The only fear then is Martial Law. Well, i own a shovel and so do most gun owners i know If they came for them, they wouldn't get many. So they still would be facing many millions of pissed-off armed peeps if they tried anything too obvious. So as long as the current situation lasts it is a stand-off.

The real worry imo is people walking into tyranny on their own.. The banksters, through their puppet pols, using the economic collapse THEY ENGINEERED & CREATED to scare us into accepting some new deal that allows us to keep our homes and jobs, forgives our credit card debt, lets us keep our retirement funds and pensions in exchange for our freedoms: In exchange for dissolving our Constitution for some new entity like "North American Union". How many would take that trade? Many who would do so, are gun owners, too.   

If this thing happens, it won't be by them crashing through our front doors.. It will be by us inviting them in.

Hi dave guns have always been legal in the UK but you had to have a valid use for owning one, you couldnt say its for protection either.

Its not only farmers who can have shot guns you could yourself if you so wished, you would just have to have a valid reason to own one (clay Shooting), then apply for a "shot gun license".

You can buy High powered rifles providing you have a "Fire Arms license" which you can apply for and have land owners permission to use it on and a valid reason (Deer Hunting), also you can buy air guns over the counter at most gun shops with age restrictions ofcourse.

Dunblane was the tragedy that got the government enough public backing to ban hand guns in the UK, they tightened the laws up on other firearms and made it very awkward for you to get them, they impose that many new laws you just feel its not worth it and that is the goal to totally disarm us.

If you think they are taking guns for the health of the people then i believe you are being misslead, they dont care about you its the power they need and a load of American citizens baring arms when they plan on making big changes to your country makes them nervous, they have pretty much disarmed the uk now and push even harder to hand us over to Europe now we cannot fight back, maybe the same is coming for you in the US.

If it was about mortality rates and "protecting" the US citizens dont you think they would sort these deaths out first?.
