Mags, my guess is that the semiconductor wire is simply a diode (or diodes in series).  Over and over, Teets has emphasized cap, bifi coil and diode. If the degenerate semiconductor is just a diode(s), then it's as though it's been hidden in plain sight.  My time is limited this week, but I'll try to keep working at it.

I had thought about that also. But wouldnt that effect have come about in some or any of the circuits we have seen here at OU, that have diodes in them?

What it sounds like from Bearden, is that it can either be a coil/inductor made of degenerated wire(corroded copper? Green?) or a capacitor made rigid. The cap is supposedly available, upwards of $2k  1uf. 

It must be a device that is able to take on a charge and dissipate that charge. Diodes cant do that. Even with a diode in series with a coil, the coils relaxation time will not be changed.
