About the BEMF sending it to another coil or capacitor you are in correct thinking about that idea. But you are doing it wrong on your devices which solid state switching. The switching is good only on the vibrator/oscillator to step up the voltage to higher electrical pressure.

Kapanadze design is so simple, he assembled it on the principle of Nikola Tesla nothing more.. The new improvements Tariel Kapanadze did was the Resonant Vibrator/Resonant Oscillator which draws a little energy to oscillate a driving coil. The second improvement was the Looping to self run the Tesla Transformator as Kapanadze term it like that.

Look at Don Smiths device what if the primary was not the primary, actually the primary could be used as a feedback coil to trigger the gate of a fet but the fet would drive one coil, hmmmmm hard to put in words let me draw it up.
I labeled the coil as the primary because thats what its been called but in this circuit its actually a feedback coil.
This is just an idea havent went so far as to test it yet just thinking about the possibility's, could this same principle be used in Kapandze's coils.
