From what little ER quoted from me in his post....

Then he says...

"So that its clear....I do not agree with this....."

And here is the text from er that kind of impressed on me that an inductor could substitute for the motor. There is no reason posed as to why the motor is in some form better than just an inductor. But in the end er says to install a proper motor....

"If you build the circuit like it is in the patent, substituting the motor for a single coil (for ease of familiarization purposes) you will experience exactly what I said will happen.  Specifically, with the switch "OPEN", an empty capacitor is inserted in the circuit, it will charge to the supply potential, through the motor and transformer, a magnet placed on the coil can be thrown across the room when charging a capacitor of moderate capacity, and a neon will fire when placed on the secondary of the transformer.  From this point, you can replace the coil with a properly selected motor."

So the only thing I can think of where the motor is advantageous is that the motor has shaft output while the circuit is running?  But somehow Im feeling that is not the point he is making.  I dunno

When you open " my messages " there's a tab marked " sent messages " you can then refer to the list.

However.... Only messages that you have " checked/ticked in the box marked " save a copy in my outbox " will be available.

To end up with confusion here is what I understood from Tesla cryptic statements placed in many his high frequency patents : in case of DC the motor is slightly better then a pure DC choke, because the commutator action will allow to STORE MUCH MORE ELECTROSTATIC ENERGY IN MOTOR COILS DURING THE PERIOD WHEN COILS ARE SHORTED.
When it happens ? In the time when capacitor is discharging. More later.

Hi Mags,

I'll try to take a guess at your last question as to why a motor is different from a large inductor.  Erfinder can correct me if I am wrong.  If you disconnect power from a DC motor while it is still spinning what does it become?
