If you take the video Tito posted  you would find something interesting....you must use the higher voltage available in capacitor to create sudden discharge, then secondary and a diode (or later diode bridge) to store induced current back to battery. You will find battery overloaded or even may explode. That's why Richard Willis used old flat batteries and the same you find in Tito schematic. This is the same method as used in Edwin Gray
