I was trying to post new results, but it looks like this site has popups again. I went to add attachment and got a pop-up add instead.

EDIT: It seems to only happen once in a while.

Hmm, I don´t see any pop-ups nor any hacks.

Please let me know, what browser program do you use and on which page
it exactly comes  up ? URL ?

Also, please scan your PC with the free online scanners from
http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Maybe you already had a browser virus from another source ?

Attached is an example of one of the adds. They are not all the same. Sometimes they are full page, but this is most common. They only happen once in a while. This is from Joule thief thread.

I am using IE8 with XP. All XP updates installed. Scan with AVG antivirus shows no infections in computer. Does not happen at other sites.

Well no, these are the Kontera.com contextual ads.

You probably moved the mouse over a keyword, so the
ad is just displaying an info box.

Nothing to worry about.

Since the upgrade I have noticed a change in the way Kontera works.

The trigger area for the information balloon must be larger. I also noticed if a balloon is displayed and you click on something else you will be taken to the link in the balloon. Rather aggravating.

The solution for me is to wait until the balloon closes before clicking on what I want.

The above while using FireFox.
