The effect shown in this video at 5:49 is very unconventional !

Normally, any current flowing in non-superconducting shorted coil decays in milliseconds, yet here the coil exerts its influence for 3 seconds after the lift !  Too bad that the experimenter did not wait longer than that.

I have never seen this effect so I am going to do this experiment to see if this is replicateable, for myself.

If the shorted coil maintains its effect indefinitely, then it must do so because there is electric current flowing in its windings.  If no current were flowing in it, then opening the coil would have no effect.  This electric current tries to create its own magnetic flux to oppose any change in magnetic flux that was already present in the center of the coil (this flux was generated by aligned atomic spins of ferromagnetic remanence of the core).
The change in magnetic flux is attempted by gravity trying to separate the two halves of the core and increase the air gap between them and consequently the reluctance of the whole magnetic circuit. The coil opposes this change according to the Lenz law. See eddy brake.
Conventionally, a non-superconducting shorted coil is capable of delaying the cores separation by several milliseconds, but not much longer than that.  (the lower the resistance, the longer the delay)

This is because windings of the coil are non-superconducting and they must have resistance.  Any current flowing in a resistance is always converted to heat. That heat represents real power dissipation.  (not enough to feel by hand but still it's there).
Normally this power dissipation drains the energy induced/stored in the coil very quickly... but here it does not happen quickly, or not at all

This may also be possible with attracting permanent magnets that are pulled apart with a force slightly greater than their threshold of separation.

Instead of creating heat, that electric energy circulating in the coil could be extracted in another form and run e.g.: an efficient Joule Thief circuit.
