Very Low frequency  EM of say 20Hz or microwave band  or visible light  including ultraviolet is not harmful to your body.
However because energy per one single period ( sinusoidal / transversal ) is higher when  wavelength/ frequency  increases, than at X-ray, Gamma level Energy  per period is so high that it can ionize our body. Our body  is mostly made from  water. and we are  mostly made from vacuum.

Ha Ha You must have seen welder and instant soldering iron guns ? Any way if you short out transformer with shorted turns what do you expect, it burns out !

you need to limit the current through the high current winding, so add a resister or filament lamp, string some cheep old fire element type restrictive value in series then play again !
