Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

Quote from: JohnHello my friend.Just a quick question. Would you be able to recommend me a personal dosimeter.
There is some choice on the ebay and I have a problem to choose the right one.
As I do experiments with high voltage I think it could be a good Idea to have some small device at home watching my back. :)
I want to ask you- what should my dosimeter measure- Beta, Gama , X-ray, Alpha?
Thank you for your advice.Regards

dosimeter? NO
Dosimeter is the device that is actually " galvanometer" There is a little bit of confusion in this field.
Although https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dosimeter shows  pretty much radiation detection unit
the traditional understanding of  it is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Direct-reading_dosimeter.jpg
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartz_fiber_dosimeter
Another one is film badge dosimeter ( one time use) skip it.

So what  is that you need?
The answer is  what is:
1-that you are interested with.
2- that what fits your budget
3- that what can give you some information or most of information about possible danger you might be  exposed to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Major determination-
Once you find that there is radiation,  than now you have choice to stop experimenting, or to find what is the nature
of  radiation and approach it from that perspective.
It is like  you dressing for the  weather you might be exposed to - e.g Jacket, coat, T-shirt, and so on.
Your curiosity will than push you for more spending.
So why you need to spend twice?
I did, and - it does not pay.
Do you need to follow my path?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Futures of radiation and reaction to it:
1.Alpha
2.Beta
3.Gamma
4.X-ray
5.Neutron
Please look at diagram below.
Quote
Alpha (α) radiation consists of a fast-moving helium-4 (4He) nucleus and is stopped by a sheet of paper.
Beta (β) radiation, consisting of electrons, is halted by an aluminium plate.
Gamma (γ) radiation, consisting of energetic photons, is eventually absorbed as it penetrates a dense material.
X-ray  similar to  Gamma with only difference that is much less energetic.( Wesley's addition)
Neutron (n) radiation consists of free neutrons that are blocked by light elements, like hydrogen, which slow and/or capture them.
Not shown: galactic cosmic rays that consist of energetic charged nuclei such as protons, helium nuclei, and high-charged nuclei called HZE ions.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ionizing_radiation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The choices:
major  leading manufacturers you will possibly never regret buying from (never buy new)!!!!!

-Canberra
pros:sexy, modern  pricey but less pricey than Ortec.( You do not just buy any Canberra  detector but the one you need and you must know what you buying)
cons: in most of it you need to learn how to operate it.  And the more advanced it is, the more complicated it is.
no idiots allowed
-However Canberra ADM-300 kit - is easy, relatively easy. I have it
http://www.southernscientific.co.uk/store/public/application/file/document/Canberra_ADM300_DEC.pdf

-Canberra  Inspector 1000 look at picture.  gamma  neutron optional but gives you isotope  recognition by isotope say CS-137 CO-60 and so on.
very sexy, modern, advanced  complicated, no idiots allowed.

-Canberra Lynx the flagship of Canberra the best they have from  non portable lab equipment however they have portable beauties  you just  might dream to touch
http://www.canberra.com/products/radiochemistry_lab/pdf/Lynx-SS-C38658.pdf
100% no idiots allowed.
However it is possible that you may quickly go to that level or bottom of the level it is required to operate it.
You might think of it as additional few grands spend for Canberra  Genie2000 software in addition to Lynx
The Lynx offered on Ebay is old version software browser from  year 2002.( do not confuse it with software  for computer e.g Gene that might be needed too.) and there is a need   to contact Canberra with Good English and some  knowledge.
You need also to present yourself as business entity that might not be exactly in field of nuclear science
but that the nuclear science in field of radiation is your additional area of expertize you need to  enhance your scientific investigation with.
That gives you some room for not being professional.
If you are able to  do so than they might  do  upload of the software for you for free and on line.
The other way is just to send the device  to them and they  will upgrade the device for you.
They might charge you  few dollars  for it.  E.G - just  regular check up is about $260
But I do not believe it would be more than  $700 all together.
In this field there is no room for idiots.
In this field there is no room for one time opportunists.
Canberra must see another entity that is possibly willing to spend more money with them in the  future.
Your gain will be :
Perfect solution for all of your needs just like with Ortec.
However Ortec is only for professionals and unlike Canberra.- Ortec does not tolerate  any amateurs.
So Ortec is only for professionals and  the best if they are in USA.
Once  they put you in doubt you done with them for long or possibly for ever.

-Ortec:
pros: pricey the most pricey than anything else in this field . Not sexy, usually does not look  good. Works like horse, never fail you, mostly no error allowed, apart just from human error.
Real Rolls Royce  in  nuclear physics. ( You do not just buy any Ortec detector but the one you need and you must know what you buying)
The flagship of Ortec  in Gamma and Neutron is portable Detective-EX-100T I have it.
Idiots allowed to operate it. However not appreciated.
cons: in most of it you need to learn how to operate it.  And the more advanced it is, the more complicated it is.
idiots will stay idiots others will get far and understand good.

-Exploranium MiniSpec   GR-130M Look at the picture and read carefully manual before you decide to buy.
http://www.qsl.net/k0ff/Exploranium/130manual%20rev15.1.pdf

-the very basic like Radiac IM-141/ PDR-27J alpha, beta ,gamma ( it is important to follow exactly the model number)

MY  approach is:
NEVER BUY CHINESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!no matter how it looks, what it say, just do not buy
20 years old  junk made in America is just better.

All of the devices listed below -I have and I tested it.
But this in not all that I have :)

Hi Wesley,

The purpose is just to give me to know  if there is any danger level of radiation around me.  I don't want to spend for it more than €200.
I am thinking about this one :  http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Dosimeter-DOUBLE-SBM-20-new-generation-Radiation-detector-Geiger-Counter-/281912638804?hash=item41a34d7d54:g:vJoAAMXQlUNRTgDo

Is he one above OK?

Cheers,
Jan

From the environment or from the device ?

GM Tubes Evaluated:

1.https://sites.google.com/site/diygeigercounter/gm-tubes-supported

2.certificate of  russian tube from 1948 ad this is 1957 technology is here http://www.gstube.com/data/2398/

3. some of videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rfw66zCtV0U of the one you want to buy.
The site of that company is  registered as .UA possibly due to  American sanctions on Russia.Nothing strange money can do everything.

I  would buy  old  British or old American Ludlum or Bircon or Radiac
Made for military according to military spec.

Wesley
Thank you Wesley for the video about the subject #1 without pollution with subject #2.
New information about this interesting device is always welcomed.

BTW IMO at 7m 50s of this video the annotation should be "Now we mark input current' because he says: "потребляемый ток".
Also, at 9m 21s I also think the annotation should be "input current did not change" instead of "current on secondary winding did not change" because he says "ток потребляемый не изменился"

Last but not least, the STAAR Yoke Device had 4½ windings (see the schematic below: W1, W2, W3, W4a, W4b).
How many windings were present on the yoke in Tiger's experiment, depicted in part 2 of this video?  ...which ones were they?
