Well, I believe you should ring or vibrate the ferrite. And only one configuration does work for me was when I put HV coil inside the ferrite. You should be able to hear it ringing...

I used ferrite toroids that had a resonant frequency of about 10.2 KHZ and they did ring. Did you use AC HV or Unipolar AC HV or DC HV.

What more can you tell me about the wire you used. I tried both multi-strand 26 gauge and 14 gauge solid and 24 gauge solid wire.

The Russians seem to be using multistrand but that produces so little magnetic field that it didn't seem realistic for low frequency.

I was pretty burned out on winding that coil form when I was done.

I was using ordinary electrical wiring same wire that i've seen in SR/Cosmo setup.. Right now i just been able to ring it.. I have to make another HV circuit and 50hz driver circuit and try it soon.. Hope it works.. Happy experimenting guys...
