The ferrite in the middle is the channel that transmits from end to end. There is little resistance to this channel like in the pmh experiments. The rushing field through the ferrite drags along the ambient fields along the vortex's interior by pressure or density of the fields and causes the vortex or spring like field to form. But the surface curves back to the begining forming a rolling wave in the vortex. It not only twists left and right but also inside out as well.

I am likening this vortex field to the bubble rings under water. The vortex rides this bubble ring and when it hits the flat coil it spreads outwards in a very very elastic ring just like the water vortexes. These are the waves Tesla was really interested in. Not the streamers from the top of the device. But the rolling bubble wave that seems to never stop once set in motion.
