I am glad to see you here.
I posted an explanation Tesla made about the metaphor he preferred. It is a tank with an opening at the bottom and the inlet at the top.
It is brilliant.

@All,
I am still looking for where I put it, so if anyone saved it from my post of if anyone else has it, please post it.
It not only makes caps understandable, it is what Tesla was doing with them.
He was very deffinitely using them to oscillate the circuit.

But also don't forget the inductors.
In almost every segment of tesla's circuit diagrams there are 2 inductors.
It is easy to pass over them and think they are merely acting as transformers, but this is not so.
The inductors are an integral part of the circuit they include.

Here are a few small pictures for examination.
These are all at the point of pulsing. Some were started with steady but all are pulsing at the point of the circuit shown.

All have at least one spark and 2 have at least 2 inductors being used by the circuit. iiib is coming right off an ac generator.

This is one of the oldest and easiest systems of Don Smiths. It uses casimer effect to change NST 8kv at 50mA into a large bank of caps selected so the CRL = C =uF feed into trafo primary which can be any big regular mains trafo you have laying around while its input L inductance selected by timing resistor R  to match required 50/60 Hz.

The grounds are ONE common ground this is NOT Kapanadze system. T

Don't forget Tesla's Hairpin circuit.
It only works at those high levels.

did he tell you this?  His o/p transformer will give him about 50,000 volts!
