I have built a receiving coil and attached the top end to a plate of aluminium foil (i was thinking catch the heaviside ) and the bottom end to a big heavy piece of iron that sits on the fllor.  This ground is situated far away from the ground of my transmitting secondary coil.  Between the receiving coil and the heavy iron i tried placing my neon lamps and 12V diode torch.  I first connected them all ''in series'' on the single wire, if you understand what i mean.....and i got very poor results for the diode torch....the neons worked OK.  I then put them all in parallel by just resting the terminals of the neons on a wire, and connecting both the terminals of the diode torch together.  The result was the diode torch and neons working at full brightness.  Why does a parallel connection do that?

This is probably a basic question, but nonetheless will help me understand whats going on a lot better!

I´ve seen just this when playing with a stiffler SEC circuit a few months back., here´s what I think the reason is:

The LED will not pass any really high impedance (hi Z) signal very well wheras neons gobble hi Z up greedily but won´t pass lo Z until the plasma has formed. So when in series the two different loads won´t work together. Each won´t allow the passage of what the other needs.

When you put them in parallel the neons will take what they want and the LED will take what it wants, the 2 load types each conducting and burning the components that they like to.

p.s.
the one hand in pocket is only really necessary when you have a large voltage accumulated in a biggish cap like a doorknob, your polyprop doesn´t bite much.

Great Video and pics Haltiberlin, and great link PARAV.  I'd really like to try device 2 in the link as it looks like 4 tesla coils, and he seems to be claiming that the 3 receiver coils just duplicate the energy of the transmitter coil.  I can handle soomething a bit simpler like this, where I get the idea, and the set up looks pretty familiar.  Anyone got any links for some design plans???  All ive seen of Don Smiths devices are pictures.  ive seen plans on this thread for his version of the Kapanadze device, but i dont really understand it...its beyond my present powers!!!  I wanna learn to walk before I can run
