Yes, fine for EM waves in the far field and the electrostatic  near field.  But Faraday cages are no good for the magnetic portion of the near field.  Any good EM text will tell you how hard it is to shield a powerful magnetic field.

May be the Faraday cage is a condition for the device to work. When outside, the device is capacitively coupled to the earth, which is very close and a good conductor. But in a building, this condition is not met, and the ground has to be recreated by a Faraday cage. It is just a hypothesis.
