no open coil i not active resonance circuit.
Close one but tuned to 1.2-1.9Mhz gives scalar parameter even if spark gap is not connected.. Influence of this  circuit  works similar to  proximity sensor of regular store anti theft device

At 21  winds the voltage is much much smaller.
I suggest to concentrate at process not at number of winds.
Do not let yourself get confused
keep original concept. 150 winds
   

Mechanism of tuning is important

You  can deliver lower voltage  from generators to do not blow out your oscilloscope or SA..
Or use  1:1000 probe.

We also do not want to  get it damaged...
