I posted a question about using two standard FBTs here;

I will try to find two identical standard FBTs to see if this is possible. The advent of the WNY device is still out of reach for many because of the special flybacks used and because no one else has thus far replicated the effect, this means to me that the flyback is playing a very important role in both supply a conditioned HV output as well as having some internal protective ability for their flyback to last so long.

So maybe try to think about what is happening on their flyback.

Again in their set-up the HV negative is going to terminal 9 which is the start of the secondary output and leaves from pin 4 to go to the center tap of the Caduceus Coil output coil. There is a cap on pins 7 and 8 which is on the same secondary as the 4 to 9.

When i did my last tests before it blew, I noticed that I can get sparks off the HV negative without bringing it close to the HV positive.

Questions to ask.

1) So what is the effect of sending the HV negative through the flyback secondary?
2) Is the effect of #1 so important that all must replicate that type of connection to get the overall effect?
3) What does the capacitor off of 7 and 8 do?
4) How does all this effect the conditioning of the HV positive output?

Seems to me that these are all part and parcel of the total effect and cannot be ignored if one wants to achieve the same results.

The capacitor on 7 and 8 is a small bias to the coil. There will be a voltage difference between the two winds and they create a small pool of energy there to bias the coil.

How does that sound? Bounce a drum stick on a loose drum skin and it doesn't bounce back in return as much as if the drum skin was tightly stretched. This is the same premise I believe. But there are more elements to this equation. Surface area and even geometric shape of the fields surface determine the output.
